This watch cap is made in Japan and produced by Buzz Rickson ( Buzz Ricksons Buzz Rickson's ) from Toyo Enterprises. The pattern construction of this knitted cap is modeled after the iconic the WW2 US A-4 mechanics caps (United States Army Air Forces USAAF Cap, Mechanics, Winter, Type A-4) with classic design, but this knit cap has been re-designed with the Buzz Rickson's brand own detailing, contemporary interpretation and modernize fit for a more casual look and fashion purpose. A-4 mechanic's caps were issued initially to USAAF ground crews before becoming popular with air crews, airborne infantry and naval forces. The beauty of this piece is the balance of classic construction and modern updates from Buzz Rickson. This A4 cap is made of unlined 100% wool knit heavy weight fabric. This wool cap features a fold-up brim for double layering at the ears. This folded cuff adds extra warmth to the ears. And this A-4 air force ground crew chilling hat is customized using painted stencil technique for a more casual look and fashion purpose. The painted stencil design on this beanie hat is based on the United States Army Air Forces. Fabric : Made of 100% wool, heavyweight, single ply, unlined, thick worsted wool knit. Made from top quality worsted wool. 100% wool yarn.

Construction : Featuring single layer construction with a thicker knitting in the body and a more compact knitting at the top peak. The design is precisely matched to the original construction, with the unique 6 petal crown design to ensure a neat fit and appearance which hugs the contour of the head.

Pattern Type : The painted stencil.

Other details : label correctly sewn to the inside of the cap. It features a fold-up brim for double layering at the ears. The fold allows the user to pull the hat down lower to cover the ears and neck if necessary. Six darts crown. The peak is sewn closed in 6 sections. * This watch cap is printed directly on the knit, so please note that print is uneven. This isn't an error - this is how this cap should be. The cap has historic details such as the tag sewn on the back side of the fabric.

The A-4 knit cap was used by ground crew of the Army Air Force during WWII. Cold winter days on the airfield. The A-4 knitted hat was issued to the USAAF mechanics in WW2 and where often used by air crew and US Airborne soldiers. The original A-4 caps have a unique construction style with the top forming six sewn segments and produced from a more-dense, worsted-wool knit.
